Columbia River Organic Producers

About

Columbia River Organic Producers (CROP) is a farmer-founded, farmer-run association created for the benefit of mid-sized organic fruit growers in the Columbia Gorge.

We founded CROP because the number of mid-sized organic orchards in the Gorge has been going down, not up. Very large farms and very small farms both tend to have some say over how their fruit is sold. But mid-sized farms are typically too large to sell much fruit directly to the people eating it, and too small to maintain consistent relationships with institutional buyers. Without specialized equipment, infrastructure, and knowledge, farms producing more than  a few tons of tree fruit have very limited options in the current market environment.

CROP was founded as a response to this reality. It exists to facilitate the sharing of equipment, knowledge, and market resources for mid-sized organic fruit growers in the Gorge. We hope that an environment of collaboration and cooperation will nurture existing organic orchards and encourage new orchardists to consider organic certification.

Mailing List

As CROP matures, we hope to put farmers in contact with enthusiastic eaters and preservers of organic fruit. If you are interested in hearing about special opportunities to purchase local, organic fruit when it is ripe, you can sign up for our mailing list below.
